TikTok influencers, podcasters slated for 'largest post-Mormon event in history'
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Touted as the "largest post-Mormon event in history," a non-profit group is bringing ex-members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints together for a weekend conference at the Salt Palace.
The THRIVE Foundation is a "movement founded to help people as they transition away from religion," according to the group's website. Its THRIVE Day 2021 will kick off Saturday evening ahead of a day full of TikTok influencers, podcasters and high-profile former Church members on Sunday.
Sunday's emcee will be TikToker @nuancehoe, a.k.a. Carah Burrell, who is a producer and co-host of the Mormon Stories Podcast.
Among the speakers are ex-bishop Bill Reel, former NBA player Lance Allred, sex therapist Natasha Helfer, and actor and former NXIVM member Sarah Edmondson.
Other TikTok influencers participating in the event include:
- @Kileanh
- @exmoLex
- @exmormonmindy
- @jackmormon
- @jordanandmckay
- @deviltrout
"THRIVE is LGBTQ+ affirming, and strives to create a culture of acceptance and unconditional love regardless of beliefs, background, or status," according to its website. "THRIVE values female leadership, and strives for a bottom up, vs a top down leadership structure."
THRIVE provides Sunday morning support groups across the nation, though the majority of them are located along the Wasatch Front.
The group's inaugural post-Mormon conference was held in 2019, where more than 1,000 attendees gathered to see Imagine Dragons guitarist Wayne Sermon, who was the keynote speaker.
