One year would be a disservice, Aaron Rodgers unveils AMBITIOUS plans for a long Jets career,
How long can Aaron Rodgers sustain his career? That’s one of the biggest questions every New York Jets fan is pondering. Will he be at the franchise for only one session? Or does the NFL get to see many more long passes from one of its greatest quarterbacks ever? Rodgers himself believes that he can push for more than just one year as a Jet.
Aaron Rodgers has frequently faced the question of how long he will or can continue to perform at the highest level. Recently, he shed some light on his future plans with the New York Jets, and it will be music to the Jets fans’ ears.
“Jets gave up a lot for me. So, you know, to play just one year would be a disservice,” Rodgers told ESPN’s DiPietro & Rothenberg in one of their recent podcast segments. “If that one year turns out to be magical, who knows? It’s more than that; it’s how my body feels. I have made some changes this offseason with my training and diet. I haven’t eaten a lot of bananas or any fruit in a while, or anything processed; I’m kind of sticking to protein and fat. The body and the joints feel good.”
The soon-to-be 40-year-old Rodgers will be entering his first campaign as Jets quarterback after his offseason move from the Green Bay Packers. Usually, football players do not tend to push past the age barrier, as Rodgers does, and still perform at the highest level. However, he won’t be the first to achieve a landmark. Previously, Patriots legend Tom Brady showed the world that you can be 43 and still have enough left in the tank to win a Super Bowl.

Aaron Rodgers still hasn’t worked out the details of his contract with the New York Jets
While Rodgers is thinking ahead with his practice and building up team telepathy with his colleagues, he still needs to sort out his contract situation with the Jets.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the 10-time Pro Bowler, before becoming a Jet, agreed to push his $58.3 million option bonus to 2024. This means his current base salary is around $1.165 million this year, which will jump to $107.55 million in 2024. Florio also speculated that both parties may sit down and finalize a deal before Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.
Nevertheless, Rodgers’ compensation will depend on how much the Jets are willing to split his salary between 2023 and 2024. Florio noted that they might even choose to push it to 2025. This means the money will get lower and lower. According to Over The Cap, the Jets have the fifth-highest salary cap in the league, which means they can afford to put up with Rodgers’ demands.
