Akane’s mother asked her to invite Daichi and Takaya over in the previous chapter of My Lv999 Love For Yamada-Kun, but she felt quite uncomfortable doing so. We can all agree that Akane probably didn’t feel like calling Takaya and talking to him. She tells Kaede everything, and Kaede asks Daichi if Takaya still likes Akane.
Daichi responds with his typical lack of enthusiasm, which is typical of him. Kaede just calls Takaya to inquire about dinner and whether or not he still cares about Akane. She tells him Yamada is a bad guy and that Takaya needs to move on from his unrequited love.
Takaya is presumably feeling competitive toward Yamada, so he questions about the kind of person Yamada is. Kaede may think he’s gorgeous, but he’s not going to win over Takaya. He must feel some jealousy toward her because she is his first love.
The call abruptly ends without resolution, but Kaede is powerless to prevent this. Over dinner, Akane’s mother acts out again, asking Yamada if he wants to stay another day so they can all attend a nearby festival. It’s amusing because Akane loses her temper again on the assumption that Yamada will accept because he feels compelled to, but Yamada actually seems eager to leave.
The next scene is a flashback to Akane and Takaya’s high school years. Takaya was the prototypical enraged adolescent, and he naturally had a soft spot for Akane. He offers Akane a trip on his motorcycle one day, and she accepts.
