Boise's only year-round rooftop bar

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Located inside Hotel Renegade, The Highlander says they're the only rooftop bar in Boise to offer year-round service.

"There are several rooftop bars that deliver great cocktails and great food, but eight floors up with the amount of views and capacity that we're able to hold kind of separates us from everybody else," said beverage operations manager for Hotel Renegade,Forrest Ostrander. "The Highlander is a craft cocktail bar and lounge with a 180-degree wraparound rooftop terrace patio that oversees the Owyhee Mountain Range, the Boise Foothills and the downtown's landscape of Boise itself."

Ostrander says guests of The Highlander can expect fresh cocktails and beautiful views.

"We do fresh juice every day. All of our tinctures, syrups, are made in-house from fresh ingredients," saidOstrander. "That elevates us and kind of separates us a little bit from store-bought and then we do high volume, so it's craft bar meets high volume with a lounge in there as well."

The Highlander can seat around 120 people but does not accept reservations.

"It is all first come first serve, open seating," saidOstrander. "We go into a really nice, elegant, sophisticated, sleek, sexy vibe at night with parties, groups, good crowds. We're open until midnight, seven days a week."

Alongside drinks, The Highlander offers a variety of food, often served in birdcages.

"It really is a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether you're there for the views, to meet new people, try great food, try great drinks," saidOstrander. "The food is small bites, complimentary to everything else that goes on there, but the food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere, it's really second to none."
