7 Weight Loss Tricks From Julia Roberts Celebwell
How does Julia Roberts do it? The actress appears to be aging in reverse, looking better with every year that passes. Not only does she have an enviably toned physique, the superstar is honest about the hard work and discipline it takes to look the way she does. So how exactly does she do it? Here's how Roberts takes care of her health and appearance, and what she does to be in the best shape of her life.
Roberts enjoys sourdough toast, eggs, avocado, and blueberries for breakfast. "Prolonged fermentation of sourdough contributes to a significant nutritional and taste transformation," says Dr. George Place, North Carolina State University. "It makes bread not only tasty but also increases the bioavailability of most vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants of the flour."
Roberts got back into shape after filming 2010 hit movie Eat Pray Love with the help of personal trainer Kathy Kaehler. "Eat Pray Love took her all over the world but when she got back [to California] I helped her get ready for the press tour," according to Kaehler. "We currently do 20 to 40 minutes of step aerobics and up to 40 minutes of body work—lunges, crunches, planks, push-ups—after."
Roberts likes to swim laps in her pool or go running as part of her workout routine. "Sometimes we'll listen to music or talk as we exercise, but a lot of the time the kids are watching cartoons in the room," according to Kaehler. "We adjust to the situation."
Roberts is mindful about her food choices, and teaches her children the same. "I feel like if I knew all the things to do [in terms of exercise], I would probably look like I was put together with tape," she says. "I would just go crazy. So I think, better just to remain calm, drink your water, get your sleep and be joyful. We definitely try to eat mindfully. As I always say to my kids, 'You have to eat the good stuff to get the good stuff.'"
Roberts' ageless complexion is helped by her dedication to sunblock. "On a regular day, I'll just brush my teeth, wash my face, and apply sunblock," she says. "I'm a busy mom, and sometimes I just sunblock my kids and run outside and get my nose burned. So I've made a stronger effort to take care of myself."
Roberts enjoys a gluten-free diet and organic food whenever possible (although she acknowledges this is not easy for most people). "I'm mainly gluten-free," she says. "I just try to eat well and be conscious. I go for organic. It's kind of a bummer that we live in a country where eating healthy food is a luxury."
Roberts is passionate about taking care of her skin, especially on flights. "Before I get on an airplane I pile up on the skincare products," she says. "You couldn't hug me because I would just slip right away from you."
