3 Taylor Swift shows canceled over suspected terror plot in Austria
VIENNA, Austria (TND) — Three Taylor Swift concerts scheduled in Vienna, Austria have been canceled after two suspects were arrested Wednesday for allegedly plotting a terror attack.
The two men were arrested after Austrian authorities becameaware of "preparatory actions" for a potential attack at a concert, according to officials. The 19-year-old main suspect is believed to have ties to terrorist group ISIS, while the second suspect was allegedly radicalized online.
Authorities seized chemical substances during a related house search Wednesday, according to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung. The substances are reportedly being evaluated.
Swift's Eras Tour was set to play three shows this week at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium, beginning Thursday. Event organizer Barracuda Music wrote on Instagram Wednesday afternoon organizers "have no choice" but to cancel the shows to ensure the safety of all involved.
All tickets to the three shows will be automatically refunded to buyers within the next 10 business days, according to Barracuda Music and Swift's website.
Prior to the cancelation, officials said while any concrete danger was minimized, an abstract risk warranted heightened security at the three shows, according to the Associated Press.
Swift has not yet issued a public statement on the matter.
